Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
1. Intended Audience
BrightSparks is designed primarily for children under 13, with parent or guardian involvement. Parents and guardians should create or manage any account used for progress sync.
2. Information We Collect
We collect only what is needed to run the learning experience: a random guest device ID, optional learner nickname, character choice, selected learning path or grade level, lesson progress, puzzle attempts, rewards, app preferences, and parent-managed account email when a parent signs in. Children should not enter full names, phone numbers, school names, home addresses, or other sensitive personal details.
3. Information We Do Not Collect
The Android app does not request location, camera, microphone, contacts, Bluetooth, SMS, phone number, or advertising ID permissions. We do not sell personal data, serve ads, use interest-based advertising, or include social chat or user-to-user sharing features for children.
4. How We Use Information
We use information to load lessons, personalize the learner experience, save progress, sync progress across parent-managed accounts, maintain app security, troubleshoot the service, and respond to parent or guardian requests.
5. Children's Privacy and Parental Consent
BrightSparks is intended for child-directed educational use. A parent or guardian must approve account-based progress sync and may request access to, correction of, or deletion of a child's information at any time. The Android app does not allow children to create accounts directly inside the child gameplay experience.
6. Cookies, Local Storage, and Tracking
We use essential local storage and session technology to keep the app working, remember preferences, cache learning content, and save progress. The child-directed Android app does not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
7. Third-Party Services
We use service providers only to operate BrightSparks, including app hosting, authentication, database storage, and media storage for educational content. These providers may process information on our behalf, but they are not allowed to use children's information for advertising or unrelated purposes.
8. Data Security and Retention
We use access controls, encryption in transit, and limited administrative access to protect stored data. We keep learner information only as long as needed to provide BrightSparks, meet legal duties, resolve safety or security issues, or process deletion requests.
9. Parent and Guardian Rights
Parents and guardians may review, update, export, or delete their child's BrightSparks account information by contacting hello@brightsparks.com. We may ask for limited information to confirm that you are authorized to act for the child.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy when BrightSparks changes. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date, and we will take additional notice steps when required by law or platform policy.
11. Contact Us
